Venice Beach is a world unlike any other. While actually a neighborhood of West Los Angeles, Venice boasts so many things that make it unique from any other part of the city, or country for that matter. Iconic and identifiable, with the Muscle Beach outdoor gym, Venice skatepark, famous lifeguard towers and graffiti walls to name a few, the Venice boardwalk is as prime a people watching spot as you will ever see, filled with buskers, entertainers, characters, and spots for a drink. And while you can access the rest of Los Angeles from the area, Venice really does require a few days on it’s own to really explore.

Venice is artistic, and your first stroll along the boardwalk will show you that. Long considered a haven for free-spirits and counter-culturists, Venice has continued on while Los Angeles and surrounding neighborhoods have succumbed in parts to urban renewal. The Santa Monica pier looms in the distance and makes for a great walk, bike or board. Surfers take to the waves along the expansive beach daily. The trendy Abbot-Kinney makes for some great coffee, food and celebrity spotting, while the Venice Canals allow for a bit of calm.

Samesun Venice Beach is located in the heart of all of this, directly on Windward, past the famous Venice sign, and just before the boardwalk. Many of our rooms feature ocean views, as does our recently renovated common room. The hostel offers a mix of dorms and private rooms, and also has a guest kitchen and laundry service. And best of all, our staff know Venice, and Los Angeles, and can help you to get the most out of your trip.
