Our top Vancouver hostel activities:
Our hosted hostel activities are free for guests. The only charges are public transit, ticket prices, and any food & drink. We offer activities ranging in price from a free walk around Stanley Park to visiting the Vancouver aquarium ($30 tickets).
The Lynn Canyon suspension bridge is located in North Vancouver & is the free alternative to the famous Capilano Suspension Bridge. This always popular hostel activity runs every week with groups of up to 40 people, all keen to explore Vancouver’s local rainforests. This trip starts with a short ferry ride offering amazing views of the Vancouver skyline & Burrard inlet, a visit to the Lonsdale Quay Markets, followed by a quick bus trip into BC’s lovely temperate rainforest. Remember to dress appropriately in the mountains as weather can change quite quickly.
Explore Vancouver’s exploding craft beer scene as we walk, boat or bus between some of the hottest new brewpubs around the city. Taste locally made ales, IPAs, Hefeweizens, pilsners, stouts & seasonal flavors. (Please note the legal drinking age in BC is 19 years). Some of the brew pubs we visit are:
Granville Island is Vancouver’s pride & joy of urban redevelopment, successfully turning old industrial factories into funky galleries, bustling theatres, artisan stalls & the famous Granville Island Public Market. Our Granville Island tour starts with some fun facts about the history of the island, showing off some of the unique places that visitors often miss such as the floating homes or the secret of the “trash mound”. We’ll pop into the Granville Island brewery, a sake distillery & the new liquor distillery for samples of locally made gins & whiskeys. Then we’ll head into the market to grab fresh produce, extravagant cakes & sweets or exotic cured meats.
This summer our backpackers have been loving stand-up paddle boarding. Vancouver Water Adventures gives us half price tickets on Monday & Tuesday so it is really affordable for our budget travelers. Departing from either Granville Island or Kits Beach, you’ll see incredible vistas over the city of Vancouver with stunning mountain back drop. You will love this outdoor summer activity!
