I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived Saturday afternoon to help set up for the Mexican party (or fiesta, as they say in Mexico) to see Nick and Matt cooking up some sausages for the weekly bbq. A few patio beers did not go amiss while getting into the Mexican spirit. The boys quickly donned some Mexican gear (a sombrero and a Lucha Libre wrestling mask) and maracas to set the mood while Josh tuned us into the Mexican radio.
The afternoon start turned into a bit of a wild party. Lots of last minute costumes were created out of curtains and blankets from the thrift store. Best costume has to go to Andy, with his full on Mexican wrestling outfit complete with a cape and mask! Definite points for effort and bravado with that one. There was even an appearance made by the world’s sturdiest pinata. The pinata may have had help by all the shots of tequila the batters had consumed before trying to destroy it. But eventually a resolute young Chilean got the better of it.
Now there’s just enough time to recover before the Cinco de Mayo party in Van followed by the Jungle party in Banff on the 8th…. my liver is dying.
